You’d better not even go out without your business cards. Why don’t you have a little box for keeping cards in your glove box? It happens in particular situations that you may need more cards than your wallet or pocket may contain. I’m used to carry them not only in my jacket pocket but also in my purse, briefcase and computer bag, just to feel certain I always have some extra cards.

You should always check your stock. You’d better to take care of your supply beforehand, just to avoid running out.

Moreover, you should feel certain that you’ve got available cards, check all the time, if your networking colleagues are provided with your cards. To find out if they still have enough, communicate with them frequently, and if you want to be promoted, be prepared to supply them with the amount they request.

Remote Relations
If you negotiated some business points with your business counterpart by the phone, don’t forget to write a note describing the principal issues of your conversation and enclose one or several of your business cards. Obviously you can exploit E-mail for developing your business dealings, but a brief letter would in fact give you an opportunity to put in a couple of your cards.

If you maintain contact with someone in writing, why not send a greeting card if you have a proper reason for it. You can put some business cards in every parcel of branded goods you send out. If you write to thank an entrepreneur whose referral gave you an important agreement, with your message you can enclose a business card to substitute the one he passed, put some extra cards and ask him to pass them to people who could be interested in your company.

Small Secrets of the Exchange
If you were given someone’s card and you have finished your conversation with this person, you can put some words on the other side of the card in order to remind something particular about that person that would help you to recall him. It’s better not to do it in his presence because he could gain a feeling that you are “absent-minded”. Such information as names, phone numbers or other data can be written down during your conversation, for this purpose you could employ only your own cards. Don’t use his business card to make notes if you would like to make a good impression and not to show him that you consider his card as useless piece of paper.

Some things such as your mobile phone number or an additional e-mail address could be hand-written on one of your cards, when you hand it out. In such a way your card acquires a feature which makes it different from other cards and your card would have a better opportunity to be used. Don’t forget to hand several of “spotless” cards to that person and suggest to your new colleague to give your card to a possible purchaser.

When you have dinner at a restaurant or a cafe, why not leave your business card with a gratuity? You might be grateful and write a small message to thank for provided service on the other side of your card. You could pay a turnpike toll for the BMW behind you and don’t forget to pass your card to the driver!

Remember that your card is an extremely useful instrument, when it leaves you. You should take the greatest benefit of its entire potential. And always carry a couple of additional cards. You may get in touch with me, if you don’t have a creative graphic designer and printer, I can give you their business cards.
